The Lost Building Of Market Place

 

Walking into Lancaster you'll most likely take a stroll through our Lovely centre in Market Place just off Market street, filled with stalls every Wednesday and Saturday, you'll be left gazing at whatever you desire, but if you was to look around you, you'll notice buildings, young and old standing the test of time.

now most would feel the need to stroll into T.K Maxx, the former building of Woolworth's and the Cooperative store. But there was once a building which stood here many years before, rich and elegant but sadly never remembered. It is to me, the forgotten building of Lancaster.

The Building you see here was officially built in 1870 after Robert Mensergh bought the Royal Oak Inn on this site in 1869. He had the Inn pulled down in favour of his new Workshop and showroom building which would sell all kinds of Linen
